44th Cambridge Beer Festival Wine List

This list is a hopefully accurate record of the wines that were served at the festival.

  • Chilford Hall Linton, Cambs Blush 2015 10.0% A raspberry-hued wine with aromas of cherry and fresh raspberry, classic strawberry and vanilla flavours, and a lingering finish reminiscent of cranberries.
  • Chilford Hundred 2014 Sparkling Rosé 11.5% Delicate salmon pink in colour, with hints of fresh strawberries and citrus overtones in the nose. Strawberry, lemon and lime flavors carry on washing the palate through to its creamy, mellow finish.
  • Chilford Hundred Brut 2011 12.5% A delicate wine bursting with aromas of freshly cut grass, herbs and lemons, flavours of grapefruit and lime zest, and a fresh, lingering finish of kiwi and lemon.
  • Müller-Thurgau Siegerrebe 2014 11.0% A crisp dry white wine, pale golden green with a distinctive lemon zest bouquet.Green apple and pear flavours lead to a long lingering finish of pear drops and marzipan.
  • Dedham Vale Boxted, Colchester, Essex Colchester Oyster 2015 12.0% A medium dry white wine made from the Reichensteiner grape, with a gentle slightly dry flavour and grapefruit and melon aromas.
  • Demi Sec Sparkling Rosé Wine 2015 12.0% A delicious, crisp demi-sec sparkling wine with strawberry aromas.
  • Mayflower 2014 12.0% An easy drinking English dry white wine, pale straw in colour with flavours of peach on the palate.
  • Reserve 2015 10.0% An exciting ruby red medium-bodied English wine with inviting red berry aromas and complex flavours of redcurrants, raspberries and liquorice, leavened by gentle tannins.
  • Sparkling English Brut 2015 12.0% A dry sparkling wine featuring good depth on the palate with attractive fresh fruit flavours and yeasty overtones.
  • Elysian Fields Ely, Cambs Bacchus Dry 2014 10.0% A light and refreshing wine with citrus notes predominating; the clean acidity will refresh the palate when accompanying Chinese food and most fish dishes. This wine was made using traditional methods without the addition of sugar or fining agents.
  • Bacchus Medium Dry 2014 10.5% Pale lemon colour with gentle floral notes and a hint of citrus. Well balanced acidity with a smooth finish make this a versatile wine that can complement spicy foods or be drunk as an aperitif.
  • Dry Rosé 2015 11.0% This wine was made from a blend of red and white grape varieties. It is light and refreshing with strawberry and apricot predominating. The clean acidity comes through to the finish.
  • Pinot Noir Rosé 2014 10.5% Well balanced acidity with summer fruits predominating on the palate, notably cherry and plum. The addition of 10% Acolon to the must gives this wine a depth not often seen in English Rosé.
  • Giffords Hall Suffolk Light Oak 2014 11.5% A very lightly oaked dry white made from our Reichensteiner 2014. The oak softens the wine and give it a slightly buttery finish – honey on the nose, lovely with food or as an aperitif.

  • Rosé 2015 11.0% Traditional rosé with pale onion skin colour, English garden nose, crisp acidity and depth, white peach flavours, great mouth feel and lovely finish.
  • Sparkling Brut 2013 12.0% A soft fruity sparkling wine made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Light, sophisticated, with lots of depth, subtle hints of pear and hazelnuts with a biscuity dry finish.
  • St Edmundsbury 2014 11.0% Chunky red with loads of fruit and a heavy mouthfeel.
  • Warden Abbey Cardington, Bedford Bacchus 2015 11.0% Wine with orange blossom and white flower fragrances, and citrus flavours enhanced by peach and nectarine notes.
  • Sparkling 2014 12.5% Fragrant, fresh sparkling wine with a mix of citrus fruit aroma and taste, with a hint of sweet fruit and a refreshing long finish.
  • Winbirri Vineyards Norfolk Bacchus 2015 12.0% An elegant nose of grapefruits, passion fruits and floral characters. Tropical fruits backed with a clean crisp finish on the palate. Winner of the 2017 Decanter World Wine Award for best white wine made from a single grape variety.
  • Insignia 2014 12.0% This lively wine from Norfolk is a blend of three grapes, Dornfelder, Rondo and Regent. It has lovely blackberry and plum flavours underscored by a pinch of black pepper and finishing with a sweet strawberry flourish.
  • Norfolk Pink 2014 12.5% A beautiful easy drinking English rose blush pink in colour. Strawberry aromas with a crisp palate of rounded fruit.
  • Pinot Noir 2014 12.0% Fragrant, soft and flavorful with aromas of ripe black cherries and sweet fruit tannins that provide a seductive structure and character.
  • Signature 2014 12.0% This bold red is bursting with rich plumb and dark-berry fruits, It is also spicy with notes of coffee and blackberries and a bit toasted as a result of its aging in oak barrels.
  • Solaris 2014 12.0% Very pale lemon. Creamy, custard and lemon on the nose. Juicy yellow fruits, apples with a crisp balance and attractive nuance. The Pinot Grigio parentage really comes forward in this grape.
