Our 46th Cambridge Beer Festival has come to a close,
serving a record 45,111 customers a total of 110,700 pints of beer,
cider and perry, over 2200 bottles of wine and mead and approximately
750kg of cheese. Over 550 volunteers gave up their time to help.
The festival charity set a further record. Arthur Rank Hospice
Charity raised over £25,000 to help support people in Cambridgeshire
living with a life-limiting illness and those who need end-of-life care.
Anthony Cox, festival organiser, is particularly pleased with the number
of customers visiting. “I think this shows that interest in real ales,
perries and ciders continues to be strong. Although nationally pubs are
shutting at an alarming rate, a record attendance at our festival shows
the strength of feeling in Cambridgeshire for good community pubs which
serve good beer. I’d particularly like to thank our volunteers, without
whom we would not be able to run the event.”
We’ll see you in November for the Cambridge Beer Festival Winter, and next May for the 47th Cambridge Beer Festival.
