The Cambridge Beer Festival needs you!
The Cambridge Beer Festival is run entirely by unpaid volunteers who come from all walks of life and give up their valuable time to make the beer festival a success. Basically, without our volunteers the beer festival would not go on. We are always in need of volunteers, even if you can only do one shift or even just a few hours to cover meal breaks, it would help us tremendously.
Any help you can give us is warmly welcomed, whether it's a few hours or the whole festival.
We'd like to thank all the volunteers who have helped us in the past, you are amazing!! Now come on and volunteer again, we'd love to see you.
We need over 300 volunteers to help make the festival happen. However, it’s not just bar work that we need volunteers for. Whilst we are open to the public from Monday 22 May until Saturday 27 May, however, for setting up and taking down we need volunteers from Wednesday 17 May to Wednesday 31 May.
Before we can open to the public, we need volunteers to help us build the festival site. If you have a trade such as plumbing or electrics then that would be very helpful. However are a wide range of jobs, across many disciplines, so don't worry about having the right or specialist skills, enthusiasm and willingness to help are the most important skills, as training will be provided where needed.
When we are open we need people to work on the front entrance, glasses, the bars, the cheese counter, litter pickers and many more jobs, where your enthusiasm and willingness are the key skills needed, as always training will be provided.
Finally, there is the takedown phase, where we need to pack everything away, clear the site and return Jesus Green to its pristine state. Once again there are a wide range of jobs, across many disciplines, that need doing. Like with the set up phase, if you have a trade such as plumbing or electrics then that would be very helpful, but don't worry about having the right or specialist skills. Your enthusiasm and willingness to help are the most important skills, as training will be provided where needed.
Although we need volunteers for every session, in previous years we have been very short of help for the Saturday of opening (27 May) and the Sunday and Monday of take down (28 and 29 May).
The benefits of working include free food, tea & coffee, some free beer, cider etc., a volunteer T-shirt and the chance to meet old friends and make new ones who all have at least one thing in common, a love of real ale, cider, foreign beers, mead, wine and yes ... cheese.
